Fully funded exchange in Norway: Apply for the DigiWind NTNU Open Call

The DigiWind project just launched its fourth Open Call in collaboration with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway. As the global wind energy sector moves toward a digital future, this 6-month exchange scholarship offers a unique chance for students to join one of the world’s leading hubs for offshore innovation.

Up to 18 selected candidates will receive a stipend of €6,940 to cover living and subsistence costs during a six-month exchange at NTNU in the Fall 2026 semester. Find more information and apply here.

Leading the offshore transition at NTNU

Norway has long been a global leader in marine and offshore wind energy, and NTNU is at the heart of this expertise. This new Open Call is currently accepting applications from those who want to master the complexities of modern wind assets in challenging marine environments.

The NTNU scholarship offers a specialised pathway into the digitalisation of offshore wind energy. Based in Trondheim, a renowned centre for technological research, students will benefit from access to advanced facilities and a strong network of academic and industry experts.

Designed to equip future engineers and professionals with the digital tools required to manage complex wind energy systems, the programme combines traditional engineering knowledge and marine technology with data-driven insights. By reducing financial and geographic barriers, the DigiWind project is empowering  the next generation of specialists to lead this transition towards a more sustainable and digitalised sector.

A proven track record: building on success

The launch of the NTNU call follows the successful rollout of scholarship opportunities in Denmark and Ireland. These earlier rounds have already demonstrated a high demand for specialised training in wind energy digitalisation.

The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) in Ireland will soon welcome their first beneficiaries. The project has seen true international interest, with applications coming from across Europe and beyond, including Turkey, Poland, and Ireland.

Most recently, the deadline extension for the TUS Research Master’s in Limerick attracted significant attention from students across the continent. With over 120 individuals engaging with our application pipeline to date, it is clear that there is a strong interest in the digital skills that DigiWind provides.

Looking ahead

With its expansion into Norway, DigiWind is opening new doors for students to experience a full semester at NTNU – one of Europe’s leading innovation hubs. These Open Calls are more than opportunities; they are a pathway to shaping the future of wind energy. By empowering the next generation with critical digital expertise, DigiWind is actively contributing to Europe’s sustainable energy transition.
