How can industry turn the Digital Product Passport into action?
At the Digital Transformation Summit, four EU-funded projects came together during the “The Digital Product Passport: Traceability in Action“ workshop to answer that question.
It’s now available the aftermovie of that day, where the focus was on the targeted strategies that resolve supply chain data gaps and prepare businesses for new EU sustainability standards. Currently, a lack of clear information on product material composition makes industrial recycling and repair incredibly difficult. To tackle this data gap, Milana Sekulic from F6S chaired a collaborative session showcasing distinct solutions from CIRPASS-2, PSS-Pass, Cir4Fun, and DATA4CIRC.
CIRPASS-2 shared its work on building core technical foundations across European industries, whilst PSS-Pass explained how it uses artificial intelligence to track product health and manage repairs before items end up in landfills. At the same time, Cir4Fun demonstrated how it focuses specifically on the furniture sector by using blockchain technology to give products a secure, tamper-proof history. Finally, DATA4CIRC presented its approach to setting up secure data spaces so manufacturers can share lifecycle data safely without risking their commercial secrets.
In the aftermovie interviews, industry experts Giovanni Di Orio, Arnab Sinha, Andrés Arias, and Katia Lavín Olozaga share how the digital product passport is moving from a policy idea into a practical business tool. By creating a secure digital history for every product, these individual initiatives prove that companies can meet strict EU environmental targets whilst running more efficient businesses, and maintaining circular technology accessible to everyone.
