April 21st marks the World Creativity and Innovation Day – a global celebration of two of the main drives of progress. Created by the United Nations, this day reminds us of the role creativity and innovation play in dealing with the world’s biggest challenges, from economic growth to sustainable development.
While the concept of creativity can be as diverse as human thought itself – ranging from artistic expression to practical problem-solving – its impact is undeniable. Creativity fuels cultural richness, drives the economy, and contributes to a more sustainable and equitable world.
As we celebrate World Creativity and Innovation Day, we want to shine a light on the vital work being done by our team in our EU projects. Driving technology growth through public funding programmes, we boost the growth and scaling of founders, startups, SMEs and other key players in the innovation ecosystem. Our projects offer a range of opportunities, including cascade funding, pilot opportunities, value-driven services, incubation, acceleration, mentoring, piloting, corporate matchmaking, soft-landing missions, and networking with investors.
Let’s see how our projects align with the spirit of World Creativity and Innovation Day and are contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by looking into some examples.
Shaping the future of the Cultural and Creative Industries (AMPLIFY)
AMPLIFY is all about reimagining how we create and share music in a world where physical distance doesn’t have to mean emotional disconnection. It is giving artists, from real professionals to parents making music with their babies, new ways to collaborate, perform, and reach audiences through two powerful tools:
- AMPLIFY PORTABLE – People playing and performing music together from anywhere, with AI helping produce beautiful audiovisual content.
- AMPLIFY IMMERSIVE – Empowers audiences to engage with live performances in new ways through augmented reality. It facilitates interactive exploration of the artistic process, allowing users to experience and understand the creative elements in a more immersive and dynamic manner.
Beyond its technological aspects, AMPLIFY is fundamentally about people and the transformative potential of a new era for the cultural and creative industries! At its heart, AMPLIFY is about nurturing creativity, especially for those whose voices are marginalized, and bringing culture to life in a more inclusive and interactive way.
Empowering Green Energy with Innovative Storage Systems (i-STENTORE)
The i-STENTORE project stands as a powerful example of a creative solution, leading us towards a sustainable future. This project is actively exploring how various energy storage technologies, along with their combinations, can be effectively integrated across different applications in sectors such as transportation, agriculture, industry, residential areas, and heating.
i-STENTORE directly contributes to achieving several Sustainable Development Goals, supporting SDG Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy and SDG Goal 13: Climate Action, paving the way to a more resilient and sustainable future for all.
Accelerating innovation in learning and education through EdTech and XR (XR4ED)
Aligning perfectly with SDG 4: Quality Education, the XR4ED project aspires to become one of the leading platforms for XR systems for education, learning and training in Europe.
How? By developing a one-stop shop for all involved parties in both XR technologies and education. More specifically, the project will support the creation of user-friendly systems related to virtual field trips; content creation and exploration; awareness of climate changes and biodiversity challenges; training of young professionals and upskilling; and distance and blended learning, accessibility and inclusion.
Enhancing digital skills and improving employment opportunities across Europe (DS4SKills)
DS4SKills aims to create a common European Data Space for Skills focused on fostering innovation, improving education, training policies, and supporting employment strategies across Europe. Through eight large, sustainable use cases, that tackle key challenges such as student mobility, lifelong learning, employee retention, research on learning paths, upskilling, and reskilling, the project contributes to the SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth.
These use cases are strategically designed to meet real-world workforce needs, demonstrating the value of the Skills Data Space in driving the digital transformation.
Empowering rural communities to act for change (RURACTIVE)
Rural communities can become innovative hubs by utilising local resources, grassroots initiatives, and social inclusion. Digital innovation and the valorization of local resources can transform rural areas into attractive places to live and work. The RURACTIVE project aims to build on this potential by developing innovative approaches that promote community-based action to foster strong, connected, resilient, and prosperous rural societies.
Sustainable, inclusive, and innovative rural development is essential for tackling current and future environmental, societal, and cultural challenges. Thus, RURACTIVE’s research and activities contribute to several Sustainable Development Goals.
At F6S, we are proud to every day celebrate creativity and innovation through our projects’ delivery and impact.
Join us in celebrating the collective power of creativity and innovation to build a better future.
Happy World Creativity and Innovation Day!
