Cir4Fun: Shaping a sustainable future for furniture

Cir4Fun (Advancing European Industrial Sustainability and Competitiveness through Circular Design Strategies, Digital Product Passports, and Sustainable Product-Service Systems in the Furniture Sector) initiative, held a two-day meeting for its first assembly at the AIDIMME headquarters. Providing the stage for project partners to define the project’s mission, establish next steps, and align efforts for the future activities.

During its first meeting, the consortium introduced the main tasks and discussed the importance of innovative strategies, Digital Product Passports (DPP), and digital solutions, which will represent a pivotal step towards enhancing the sustainability of the furniture sector, while focusing on creating a comprehensive circular economy roadmap, developing circular business models, and establishing new methodologies for maintenance, reparability, refurbishment, remanufacturing, and recyclability.

About Cir4Fun

Cir4Fun is a three-year initiative funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe programme. The project’s consortium is formed by 22 partners from 10 European countries (Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Greece, Germany, France, Ireland, Italy, Switzerland and the United Kingdom).

This project aims to create a sustainable future for the European furniture sector by enhancing eco-design, fostering new business models, and implementing cutting-edge circular economy solutions. These measures will support simulation testing, which will inform supply chain strategies and help extend the lifespan of furniture products.
