Driving innovation in Manufacturing: meet our projects empowering the European Industry

The Manufacturing synergy is a joint effort between 17 EU funded projects aimed at boosting and increasing visibility of the manufacturing industry in Europe. In collaboration with partners across the continent, the F6S team focuses on the cross-promotion of project results, enhancing influence, fostering interconnected project ecosystems and increasing exploitation of outcomes. These projects drive the greening of the European landscape, while upskilling and reskilling the workforce and playing a key role in fueling economic resilience and growth.

Smart manufacturing

  • SOPRANO: focuses on innovation in human-robot collaboration and intelligent multi-agent systems to enable the design of next generation manufacturing floors, automated construction sites, and smart agri-food production where humans and intelligent machines seamlessly work together.
  • NARRATE: develops a system of advanced digital intelligence to boost supply-chain resilience, focusing on data visibility and transparency to enhance production efficiency.
  • FORTIS: explores cutting-edge technologies and state of the art research to provide complete Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) solutions that include multi-modal communication between the human and the robot in the workplace.
  • JARVIS: advances human-robot collaboration in a user-centric manner. The project aims to develop a reusable set of tools that enable AI driven multimodal means of interaction to strengthen the capabilities of the machinery and workforce.
  • SURE5.0: support SMEs from the Civil Transportation (MTA and aerospace & defence) and Electronics ecosystems, to integrate in their manufacturing processes the industry 5.0 principles, in order to become more human-centric, sustainable and resilient.

Circular Economy & Sustainability

  • SOTECIN FACTORY: connect industry with society in a community of mission-oriented social innovators, to support social entrepreneurs in their drive to increase the circularity of key product value chains, and to promote a culture of social innovation in European manufacturing businesses: packaging, plastics, textiles, food, water and nutrients.
  • greenSME: strengthen manufacturing SMEs’ capacity to adopt advanced technologies and social innovation for sustainability through a sustainability assessment tool, an action plan, and financial support to foster projects between manufacturing SMEs and Sustainability and Technology Providers.
  • CIRCULOOS: helps micro, small and medium-sized production companies redefine their supply chains through Circular Economy. It follows a case-driven framework, where new digital tools and models of circular supply chains are built on existing collaborations of commercial entities through the project’s Pilots and Open Calls.
  • PSS Pass: aims to improve manufacturing circularity by creating a Digital Product Service System Passport (DPSSP) that integrates service data and advanced technologies.
  • Cir4Fun: Advancing European Industrial Sustainability and Competitiveness through Circular Design Strategies, Digital Product Passports, and Sustainable Product-Service Systems in the Furniture Sector.

Advanced Materials & Processes

  • SITOLUB: creates a virtual platform based on integrated computational models with built-in artificial intelligence (AI) features to design safe and sustainable lubricant’s performance.
  • DiMAT: develops Digital Technologies for modelling, simulation and optimization in each stage of the material value chain (design, processing and manufacturing) with data analysis services and visualization techniques for improving quality, sustainability, effectiveness, and competitiveness of materials.
  • NICKEFFECT: develop novel ferromagnetic Ni-based coating materials to replace the scarce and costly Platinum and ensure high efficiency in key applications.
  • Exploit4InnoMat: establishes a sustainable Open Innovation Test Bed (OITB) across Europe to support the design, upscaling, and validation of new advanced and nano-enabled materials for building envelopes.
  • CLEANHYPRO: develop and organize a sustainable Open Innovation Test Bed (OITB) focused on scaling up circular innovative materials and components for electrolysis, addressing the critical need for efficient and sustainable hydrogen production. The test bed provides a network of facilities and services through a Single Entry Point (SEP) to companies.

Digital platforms

  • openZDM: develops an Open platform for realizing zero defects in cyber-physical manufacturing. aims to provide an open platform to support production networks’ zero-defect processes, bringing together existing R&D solutions and creating an innovative state-of-the-art integrated solution. Through five industrial pilots in real-life operational conditions the initiative will test and finalize the technological tools and facilitate the adoption of the openZDM solution.
  • RISE SME: develops a model that can assist companies in detecting and anticipating disruptions in their supply chains.
