The Horizon Europe-funded NOSTRADAMUS project has officially launched its Open Call #1, offering a total of €250,000 in funding to support the development, testing, and validation of innovative open-source digital applications for farm decision-making, sustainable agricultural production, and food security.
Applications are open from 29 September until 2 December 2026 at 17:00 CET (Brussels time). Through the Open Call, NOSTRADAMUS will select five Third-Party projects, with each successful application eligible to receive up to €50,000 in lump-sum funding and participate in a structured 12-month support programme.
Bringing New Digital Solutions into the NOSTRADAMUS Ecosystem
NOSTRADAMUS is developing a data-driven ecosystem that combines Earth Observation, IoT, Data Cubes, and cloud-edge technologies to support a more sustainable, resilient, and efficient European agricultural sector.
Open Call #1 extends this technology offer beyond the NOSTRADAMUS consortium by inviting external innovators to integrate their solutions with the project’s infrastructure and develop new applications addressing real agricultural needs.
The call will support the development of five open-source digital applications based on edge, cloud, or mixed architectures, with a particular focus on cereal-based agricultural systems and food security.
The selected projects are expected to develop solutions that improve farm-level decision-making through the use of agricultural data. Applications should contribute to more efficient production by helping farmers optimise inputs such as water, fertilisers, and pesticides, while supporting improved resource and energy efficiency, sustainability, and resilience.
Application and Selection Timeline
The Open Call will remain open for approximately two months, giving applicants time to prepare their technical proposals and submit them through the F6S platform.
Following the 2 December 2026 deadline, applications will undergo eligibility and technical checks, followed by an evaluation process. Top-ranked applicants will be invited to online interviews before the final selection.
The indicative timeline foresees eligibility and technical checks by the end of December 2026, application evaluation by the end of January 2027, and online interviews by the end of February 2027. Applicants are expected to be informed of the final results by 31 March 2027, with contracting and onboarding of the five selected projects planned for April 2027.
